Join us for a special day in Berks County! This will be a full and interesting day, exploring the world of regenerative organic agriculture.
We will begin our day with a tour of the Rodale Institute, a prestigious agricultural research and education nonprofit dedicated to advancing the regenerative organic agriculture movement through rigorous scientific experimentation, farmer training, and education.
Following our tour of Rodale, we will travel down the road to Bloom Farm where we will enjoy a special lunch prepared just for us. After lunch, we will enjoy a tour of Bloom Farm, "a sanctuary for self-exploration, continued education, and collective wellbeing." A regenerative Chestnut tree farm in Oley Valley, Bloom Farm was built on the belief that food is medicine. The owner, Sam Nana-Sinkam, purchased the 60-acre farm in 2023 with a commitment to caring for the land with regenerative agricultural practices that heal and sustain the soil, and a vision of harnessing the natural beauty of the peaceful, bucolic setting to create a place of healing and sanctuary. The farm also encompasses a food forest, edible woodland buffers, wildflower meadows, pollinator gardens, livestock, and diverse vegetable gardens tailored to the community’s nutritional objectives. It is becoming a popular location for yoga and art retreats.
The day is limited to 25 participants. This will be a day full of walking. If you have mobility concerns, please let Jeanne May know and she will try to arrange accommodations.
There is much to be learned from both sites and it should be an amazing day!
