The Morton Award Book

In creating this memorial to Esther Lloyd Morton, who was one of the founders of the Weeders, Arthur Morton proposed that the income from the bond which he gave to the Club should be presented annually, as a prize, to a member who had accomplished something outstanding in relation to Horticulture or to any of the Club's interests, not necessarily during the current year.

It was decided that suggestions for the recipients should be sent to the Executive Committee before the Annual Meeting and the member receiving the greatest number of votes should win the award.

The book was bound and tooled by Mary C. Wister in loving memory of her sister Esther Lloyd Morton. Each page is illustrated by a fellow Weeder.

This award may be given annually to a current member of the Weeders who, in the opinion of Club members, has accomplished an outstanding piece of work, during this or any other year, having to do with garden club interests. Suggestions for awardees are to be given to the Executive Committee.
